Finding perspective and focusing on gratitude

It's time for a bit of candor, friends. It's easy to make it seem like everything is functioning at highlight reel level, but it's been a challenging year for me in a few different ways.

I have been struggling with some personal issues, some burn out, and quite a bit of changes and some restructuring for the business. It has been a year of learning to appreciate our new home too. We weren't supposed to be hosting Thanksgiving but we are now, and even this past week we have put more into our home than we have all year. I’m trying to warm up to it, but ultimately I am so grateful that it’s ours, and that we are able to own a home at all, given the current state of the real estate market.

Overall, I'm still so happy with our current small, but mighty team too, and the friends and family that have been here through thick and thin. It has not been easy, but it's made it so clear to me to appreciate the people around me even more. The good people are what make the hard days possible. If you are also struggling this year for your own reasons, know that you're not alone.

So much is going on in the world, and while I tend to get caught up in the issues we face on a daily basis with clients and contractors and delays and mistakes, ultimately everything is so trivial when there are people at war, kids that are hungry, and so much hate and uncertainty outside of my little bubble.

I’m working on finding little moments in each day and continually adjusting my perspective to be so appreciative of everything that we do have. My daily struggles are nothing compared to what other people are going through.

With Thanksgiving on Thursday, I always get lost in making my signature pies, so that is what I will be doing later in the week to recenter myself and pour my gratitude into them for my family to enjoy. As always, thank you for being here to see the ups and downs, and celebrate the big wins as they come. I am really one of the luckiest ladies in the world for what you all allow me to do day in and day out.

Enjoy your holiday with your family and chosen friends who are family, and eat well!
